Police officers in Narayanganj have arrested a 39-year-old man after discovering a foreign-made pistol and seven rounds of live ammunition in his possession. The suspect, identified as Mozammel Haq Rajon, was apprehended during a targeted operation in the Baburail area of the city. Details of the recovery and arrest were formally released by the Narayanganj District Police during a press briefing on Thursday afternoon.
The arrest took place at around 9:15 pm on Wednesday, 4 November, near the Rishibari area of Baburail No. 1, under the jurisdiction of Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station. Acting on confidential intelligence, a police team raided a rented tin-shed residence belonging to one Goni Mia, where Rajon had been residing. Officers revealed that he faces multiple existing charges across several police stations, primarily involving murder and violent obstruction of public servants performing their official duties. At least three of these prior cases are currently undergoing trial in court.
Providing details on the legal proceedings, Officer-in-Charge of Narayanganj Sadar Model Police Station, Md Sajedur Rahman, confirmed that a fresh case under the Arms Act has been registered against the suspect. Following his arrest and preliminary interrogation, Rajon was presented before the court, where police requested his formal remand for further investigation.

Law enforcement authorities across the district have intensified specialized sweeps aimed at recovering illegal firearms, dismantling localized crime syndicates, and curbing extortion in densely populated residential areas. Investigators are working to trace the origin of the foreign firearm and ascertain whether it was linked to recent violent incidents or intended for upcoming criminal activities in the district.
