Police have arrested seven individuals, including a married couple, in connection with the brutal murder of journalist Asaduzzaman Tuhin in the Chandna Chowrasta area of Gazipur Metropolitan. The arrests were made on Friday night (8 August) during coordinated raids conducted in various parts of Gazipur and the capital Dhaka.
According to Rabiul Hasan, Deputy Commissioner of the Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP), five of the suspects have been directly implicated in the killing. Those arrested include Faisal alias Ketu Mizan, his wife Golapi Begum, Swadhin, Al Amin, and Suman. Faisal and two others were detained from the Bhabanipur area of Gazipur Sadar Upazila. Al Amin was arrested from the Turag area in Uttara, Dhaka, while Swadhin was taken into custody from the Hotapara area.
Subsequently, two more suspects were apprehended. They are 23-year-old Faisal Hasan, a resident of Pachbaria in Pabna and a known hired operative, and 32-year-old Shah Jalal from Homna police station in Cumilla. Law enforcement arrested the pair from Gafargaon police station area in Mymensingh.
Gazipur Metropolitan Police reported that preliminary evidence suggests all the detainees were involved in the planning and execution of the murder.
To provide further details, a press briefing will be held on Saturday (9 August) at 11:00 AM at the CPSC (Crime Prevention Specialised Company) located in the Porabari Camp, Gazipur. The briefing will be conducted by SP K. M. A. Mamun Khan Chishti, Company Commander of RAB-1.
