The Bangladesh U-20 women’s football team returned home in the early hours of Tuesday, arriving at 1:30 am, following their successful campaign in the AFC Women’s U-20 Asian Cup qualifiers held in Laos.

Historic Qualification

Bangladesh secured their first-ever qualification for the AFC Women’s U-20 Asian Cup by winning two out of their three group matches. They advanced as one of the three best runners-up among eight groups, which featured a total of 32 teams. Bangladesh will join hosts Thailand in the 12-team final tournament scheduled for next year.

Performance in Group H

  • Bangladesh began their Group H qualifiers with strong victories against the host nation Laos, winning 3-1, and Timor-Leste, with a resounding 8-0 scoreline.
  • However, they faced a tough challenge in their final group match, suffering a 6-1 defeat against two-time champions and group winners South Korea.

Senior Women’s Team Success

In a related achievement, Bangladesh’s senior women’s football team has also secured their place at the 2026 Asian Cup, which will take place in Australia.
