ACC Launches Operation to Recover Stolen Stones in Sylhet

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is set to launch an operation to recover stolen stones in Bholaganj, Sylhet.

This was confirmed to the media on Wednesday, 13 August, by Tanzir Ahmed, Assistant Director (Public Relations) of the ACC.

Reason for the Operation

According to Tanzir Ahmed, the operation follows allegations of damage to state resources through illegal stone extraction in the Bholaganj Sadapathor area of Companiganj Upazila, Sylhet. Investigations revealed that local administration and unscrupulous political figures were allegedly involved in facilitating the unlawful removal of these stones.

The ACC has decided to conduct an enforcement operation to recover the stolen stones. The operation will be led by officials from the Sylhet Coordinated Office of the ACC and is expected to begin shortly.

Social Media Attention

The previous night, Tuesday, 12 August, videos showing hundreds of trucks transporting the stones circulated widely on social media, drawing public attention and prompting immediate action from the ACC.

This operation highlights the commission’s commitment to protecting state resources and curbing collusion in illegal activities.
