DUCSU Election: Candidates for the General Secretary Post

The nomination and submission period for the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) elections concluded on Wednesday. Several active student organisations have already announced their full panels. This year, a total of eight panels are contesting the elections, including Chhatra Dal, Chhatra Shibir, Bangladesh Ganotantrik Chhatra Shangshad (BAGSHAS), Chhatra Adhikar Parishad, Islami Chhatra Andolan, left-leaning student panels, as well as multiple independent panels.

Election Statistics

  • According to the Chief Returning Officer, Professor Mohammad Jasim Uddin, a total of 509 nomination papers were submitted for the 28 posts of the DUCSU central council.
  • In total, students had collected 658 nomination papers across various positions.

 

The election is drawing attention as various student organisations, both political and independent, field strong candidates for key leadership positions, particularly the General Secretary post, which remains one of the most contested roles in the DUCSU elections.
