European Council President António Costa on Thursday expressed his horror at a fresh wave of deadly Russian airstrikes on Kyiv, which also caused damage to a building housing the European Union’s diplomatic mission in the Ukrainian capital.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Costa wrote: “My thoughts are with the Ukrainian victims and also with the staff of the EU delegation, whose building was damaged in this deliberate Russian strike.”
Costa condemned the attack in unequivocal terms, stating that the strikes would not deter the European Union from its commitments: “The EU will not be intimidated. Russia’s aggression only strengthens our resolve to stand with Ukraine and its people.”
| Aspect | Details |
| Location of Strike | Kyiv, Ukraine |
| Target Impacted | Building of the EU diplomatic mission |
| Nature of Attack | Fresh round of Russian strikes |
| EU Response | Condemnation by António Costa |

The incident highlights both the ongoing intensity of Russian aggression against Ukraine and the increasing risks faced by diplomatic missions operating in conflict zones. Costa’s message underlines the EU’s determination to remain steadfast in support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and people despite escalating hostilities.
