Principal Selim Bhuiya, Organisational Secretary of the BNP Central Committee for the Comilla Division, has strongly criticised the current interim government, describing it as extremely incapable of managing the administration.
Speaking at a pre-parade discussion session on Wednesday (3 September), held ahead of the 47th founding anniversary rally of the BNP in Homna, he said: “The longer this government delays organising elections, the more conspiracies will unfold in the country. That is why there is no alternative to holding elections immediately.”
Selim emphasised that there is now a broad consensus among parties for elections: “Everyone is united in support of holding elections. Only a couple of parties talk about PR systems, but the people of this country do not understand PR, so they have no support. Everyone is now preparing for elections. Our leader, Tarique Rahman, has instructed us to work village by village, and that is what we are doing.”
He added: “Earlier, when we demanded elections in December, many conspired against it. Now, it seems everyone has realised what is right.”
The event, presided over by Upazila BNP President Mohammad Mohiuddin, also featured speeches by key BNP leaders:
| Position | Name |
| Upazila BNP Secretary | VP Mozammel Haque Mukul |
| Municipal BNP President | Md. Sanaullah Sarkar |
| Upazila BNP Senior Joint Convenor | Zakir Hasan |
| Municipal BNP Secretary | Md. Nazrul Islam |
| Upazila BNP Joint Convenor | Hanif Mia |
| Upazila Chhatra Dal President | Saijuddin Shaju |
This gathering highlighted the BNP’s firm call for immediate elections and the party’s commitment to mobilising grassroots support across villages, while continuing to criticise the interim government’s administrative failures.
