All classes and examinations at Dhaka University have been suspended for today. The decision was confirmed in an official notice signed by Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, Acting Director of the University’s Public Relations Office, on Tuesday night (9 September).
According to the announcement, issued on Tuesday evening:“All classes and examinations at Dhaka University will remain suspended on Wednesday, 10 September.”
The suspension follows the holding of the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election on Tuesday, which took place across the campus.
While polling throughout the day proceeded peacefully, tension arose on campus later at night. Several student organisations, including Chhatra Dal, accused the university authorities of exhibiting bias during the electoral process.
