35 Killed in Israeli Airstrikes on Yemen Following Qatar Attack

At least 35 people have been killed and 131 injured in Israeli airstrikes targeting Yemen’s capital Sana’a and Al-Jawf province. Authorities warn that the death toll could rise further as rescue operations continue.

The attacks came one day after Israel targeted Hamas leaders in Doha, Qatar, on Tuesday, 10 September.

According to the Yemeni Ministry of Health, the airstrikes caused extensive destruction in the following areas:

Firefighters and rescue teams are working to extract survivors from the debris and control the fires sparked by the attacks.

Al-Masirah TV, controlled by the Houthi group, reported that the strikes specifically targeted:

• A medical centre in southwest Sana’a’s health sector
• Local government offices in Al-Hazm

Many people were killed and injured in these areas.

Houthi spokesperson Yahya Saree claimed that surface-to-air missiles were used to counter the Israeli airstrikes. According to him:

• Some Israeli aircraft were forced to retreat before deploying their weapons.
• The air defence system successfully intercepted multiple strikes, firing several missiles to repel Zionist aggression.

The Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) stated in a press release that its air force targeted military objectives associated with the Houthi group in Sana’a and Al-Jawf, including:

• Houthi military camps
• Military public relations headquarters
• Fuel storage facilities

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the airstrikes as retaliation for a Houthi drone attack on Ramon Airport. He warned: “Those who attack us, we will locate and respond to them.”

The situation remains tense, with ongoing military operations and rescue efforts across the affected areas.
