Punjab, India, is enduring its worst flood in four decades, leaving a trail of devastation across 23 districts. More than 50 lives have been lost, while thousands of families have lost their homes and farmlands. In this time of despair, Bollywood celebrities have stepped forward in solidarity with the flood-affected people, among them the “King of Bollywood” Shah Rukh Khan.
Shah Rukh Khan’s charitable organisation, the Meer Foundation, has taken active steps to support flood victims. Partnering with the local NGO Voice of Amritsar, the foundation is providing emergency relief materials to around 1,500 affected families in Amritsar, Patiala, Fazilka, and Firozpur.
The relief package includes:
Shah Rukh Khan is not alone in this mission. Several film stars and organisations have come forward to assist:
| Celebrity / Organisation | Contribution |
| Salman Khan / Being Human Foundation | Donated 5 rescue boats and pledged to adopt affected villages. |
| Sonu Sood | Along with his family, distributing thousands of relief kits directly to flood victims. |
| Akshay Kumar | Extended financial and logistical support for rehabilitation. |
| Alia Bhatt | Provided aid through charitable networks and donations. |
| Diljit Dosanjh | Mobilised local support and sent aid materials to Punjab’s rural areas. |
Punjab’s current floods have been described as the most devastating since 1988. Triggered by heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir, the water levels of the Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi rivers rose drastically, resulting in widespread inundation.
As Punjab reels under this crisis, the solidarity shown by Bollywood and Punjabi stars offers hope and vital support to those rebuilding their lives amidst one of the gravest natural disasters the state has faced in decades.
