Although vote counting for the Jahangirnagar University Central Students’ Union (JUCSU) and hall union elections was completed by noon, the results will not be declared until 7:00 pm on Saturday (13 September). The announcement came from Professor Md Moniruzzaman, Chief Election Commissioner of JUCSU, earlier today.
According to Professor Dr A K M Rashedul Alam, Member-Secretary of the Election Commission, the delay is intentional: “Since the election is being held after 33 years, we are taking extra precautions to avoid any questionable circumstances. That is why it is taking longer.”
Out of 21 student halls, counting has been completed in 18 halls, while 3 halls remain under process. The prolonged wait for results has sparked frustration among both students and candidates.

Emergency Meeting and Extended Timeline
Amidst these developments, Professor Mafruhi Sattar, a member of the Election Commission, has resigned, citing allegations of irregularities.
“If I do not resign now and later raise complaints about irregularities, questions will arise as to why I stayed silent.”
