NCL Postponed Indefinitely

Following the success of its inaugural season, anticipation was high for the second edition of the NCL T20. Enthusiasm was particularly strong in Rajshahi and Bogra, where matches had been scheduled and spectators were eager to attend. However, persistent rainfall has dampened these plans, leading to the indefinite suspension of the tournament.

Tournament Timeline and Weather Disruptions

Date Venue Scheduled Match Outcome
14 September Rajshahi Opening match of NCL T20 Season 2 Played only 5 overs due to rain
14 September Bogra Scheduled match Abandoned due to rain
15–16 September Rajshahi (relocated from Bogra) Multiple matches Mostly abandoned due to continued rain; only 1 out of 6 matches completed

The second edition of the NCL T20 officially began on 14 September. On the opening day, the match in Rajshahi faced the threat of cancellation due to heavy rain but managed to go ahead with just five overs per side. Meanwhile, the match scheduled in Bogra was abandoned entirely.

In response to forecasts predicting rain for the following two days, the Bogra matches were moved to Rajshahi. Despite the relocation, weather conditions offered no reprieve. Continuous rainfall led to five out of six matches being abandoned over three days, with only a single match being completed at Rajshahi Stadium.

Given the ongoing uncertainty regarding the weather, the tournament committee concluded that the matches could not continue safely. Consequently, the NCL T20 Season 2 has been suspended indefinitely, leaving fans and players awaiting further announcements.
