Bangladesh Pilot Detained in Jeddah Over Mother’s Passport

Captain Muntasir Rahman, a pilot of Biman Bangladesh Airlines, inadvertently carried his mother’s passport on a flight from Dhaka to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. At Jeddah Airport, immigration authorities held him briefly for questioning.

The incident occurred on the night of Tuesday, 16 September.

Bosra Islam, General Manager of the Public Relations Department at Biman Bangladesh Airlines.

The airline confirmed that the passport mix-up was unintentional. Arrangements were made to send Captain Rahman’s correct passport to Jeddah for his next flight, and he is scheduled to return to Bangladesh on Thursday.

This is not the first time a Biman pilot faced passport-related issues abroad. Previously, Captain Fazal Mahmud was detained at Doha Airport, Qatar, for not having his passport. The authorities later sent his passport from Bangladesh so he could continue his journey.
