Students of technical education institutions in Barishal have declared Hasnat Abdullah (Chief Organiser, Southern Region) and Sarjis Alam (Northern Region) of the National Coordination Party (NCP) as unwelcome in the city.
The announcement was made by students who are protesting with seven specific demands. On Wednesday, they blocked the Dhaka–Kuakata Highway at Chowmatha in Barishal city and formally declared the two senior NCP leaders unwelcome in the city.
According to reports, the highway was blocked for approximately one hour from 11:00 a.m. yesterday morning.

The protest was preceded by a march of students from Barishal Polytechnic Institute to Chowmatha. Mahfuzul Alam Mithu, leading the demonstration, stated that Hasnat and Sarjis have taken positions against the legitimate rights of technical students. Consequently, the students have warned that any visit by the leaders to Barishal will be met with resistance.
