Sarwar Alamgir, former Joint Convener of Chattogram North District BNP and Chairman of Halda Group, has alleged that Jamaat-e-Islami has fallen victim to India’s political strategy. According to him, India has dangled a bait before the party, pushing them into its trap. He further claimed that Jamaat’s demand for elections under a Proportional Representation (PR) system is part of India’s blueprint.
Mr Alamgir made these remarks on Thursday (18 September) at a courtyard meeting held in Ward No. 6 of Rosangiri Union in Fatikchhari. The gathering was arranged to hear from local people regarding their “expectations, demands, and sufferings” in relation to building the future state.
During his speech, Sarwar Alamgir added: “Whether I become an MP or not, if Deshnayak Tarique Rahman becomes the Prime Minister, I will ensure the much-anticipated development of Fatikchhari.”
The courtyard meeting took place at the local Eidgah field and was presided over by Ward BNP President Mohammad Enamul Haque. The event was conducted by student leader M A Mahfuz.
A number of senior BNP leaders, freedom fighters, and local community figures attended as special guests.
