Tragedy struck in the Nalchity Upazila of Jhalokathi on Saturday evening when 20-year-old college student Nazmul Islam lost his life after being electrocuted at his family home.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:00 PM in Baichandi village, leaving the local community in shock. Nazmul, the son of Md. Shahjahan Hawladar, was a diligent student of the 11th grade at Nalchity Government Degree College.
According to family members and local sources, the young student was attempting to repair a faulty electrical connection in his home when the accident took place. Eyewitnesses stated that while performing the repair, Nazmul was inadvertently electrocuted and collapsed immediately. His family rushed him to the Nalchity Upazila Health Complex, where doctors performed the necessary examinations but, unfortunately, could not revive him. He was officially declared dead upon arrival.
The local police have confirmed the tragic event.
