In a tragic incident in Dhaka, a female police officer, Raziya Sultana Mim, aged 28, was found dead by apparent suicide at her residence in Koshaibari, South Khan. The incident occurred late on Thursday night, 1 January.
According to authorities, Mim was discovered unconscious around 1:00 a.m. and was immediately taken to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Despite urgent medical intervention, doctors declared her dead upon arrival.
Family sources revealed that Mim had been experiencing domestic difficulties. Her father, Md. Nasir Uddin Bacchu, told reporters, “We learned that due to a family dispute, Mim went to her room around 10:00 p.m., tied a scarf around her neck, and hanged herself from the ceiling fan. Her husband, Rajib Mia, who is also a police officer, found her and rushed her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, but unfortunately, she could not be revived.”
The family hails from Noyabari in Uzirpur Thana, Barishal, and currently resided in a rented apartment in Koshaibari, South Khan, Dhaka. The deceased is survived by her husband and a young daughter.
Dhaka Medical College Hospital Police Camp In-Charge, Inspector Md. Faruk, confirmed the death, stating, “The body has been kept in the morgue of the emergency department. The concerned police station has been duly informed, and the matter is under investigation.”
