After two weeks of downturn, all indices at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) — the country’s principal bourse — recorded a modest rise during the trading week of 19–23 October. However, despite the index recovery, most shares and units continued to lose value, and the average weekly turnover fell by over 18 percent.
Interestingly, market capitalisation at the DSE increased by over Tk 6,000 crore during the same period.
An analysis of market data shows that all three major indices gained ground over the week.
