Bangladesh had initially lost a certain victory due to a series of errors, allowing India to tie the match at 194 runs, pushing the game into a super over. In the super over, pacer Ripon Mondal took two wickets in two balls, leaving Akbar Ali’s team needing just one run. A wide delivery then secured the win for Bangladesh, sending them to the final.
Throughout the match, Bangladesh made numerous mistakes. Missed catches and fielding errors meant that despite scoring 194, the game reached the last over. On the final delivery, India needed four runs, but Akbar Ali failed to hit the stumps. India capitalised and tied the match. Bangladesh again faltered in the super over; with just one run needed, Yasir Ali Rabbi was caught attempting a six, raising the tension once more.
In the end, thanks to a wide by Indian spinner Suwash Sharma, Bangladesh clinched victory without further errors. Bangladesh ‘A’ team now advances to the Asia Cup Rising Star Championship final. The second semifinal between Pakistan ‘A’ and Sri Lanka ‘A’ will take place an hour later, with the winner facing Bangladesh on 23 November.
After losing the toss and batting first, Bangladesh’s openers Habibur Rahman Sohan and Zisan Alam had a strong start, adding 43 runs in 4.2 overs. Zisan scored 26 off 14 balls. Bangladesh lost further wickets quickly, but Sohan remained resilient, scoring 65 off 46 balls. Jawad Abrar, Akbar Ali, and Abu Haydar Rony underperformed, and Mahidul Islam Ankon also failed to add runs. In the late innings, Mehrab and Yasir Ali Rabbi’s aggressive batting took the total to 194.
Chasing 195, India’s openers added 53 runs. Star batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi made 38 off 15 balls, and Priyansh Aria scored 44 off 23 balls. Naman Dhir failed with 7 runs off 12 balls. Captain Jitesh Sharma contributed 33 off 23. Fifth-wicket partners Nehal Wadhera and Ramandeep added 26 runs.
In the final over, India needed 16 runs. Rakibul bowled economically, conceding just two runs in the first two balls, but the next two deliveries went for boundaries. With four runs needed off the last two balls, Rakibul took Ashutosh’s wicket, swinging momentum back to Bangladesh. On the final ball, Harsh Dube played an off-stump yorker and ran two; Akbar Ali failed to hit the stumps accurately, allowing India to take a third run.
