In a significant crackdown on illicit narcotics, police in Bijoynagar, Brahmanbaria, apprehended a notorious drug trafficker, Abdur Rahman Prokash, also known as Kalu, along with 10,000 yaba pills. The operation took place on Monday, 22 March 2026, in the Khattinga area of Paharpur Union, highlighting the authorities’ ongoing efforts to combat the proliferation of synthetic drugs in the region.
Abdur Rahman, aged 30, is a resident of Chanpur village and the son of Safi Uddin. Police sources indicated that the raid was conducted by a specialised team from the Aulia Bazar Police Investigation Centre, acting on confidential intelligence regarding ongoing drug trafficking in the area.
During the operation, officers recovered 10,000 yaba tablets from Rahman’s possession, marking one of the largest single seizures in the upazila in recent months. The suspect has a previous record of narcotics-related offences, prompting the police to file an additional case following this arrest.
A senior district police official stated: “This arrest is part of our continued campaign to dismantle drug networks in Brahmanbaria. We remain committed to preventing the circulation of yaba and other synthetic drugs, which pose a severe threat to public health and safety.”
Authorities emphasised that the operation was carefully planned based on verified intelligence and coordinated to ensure minimal risk to civilians. The arrested individual is now in police custody, and the investigation into his network is ongoing.
