Death of Ansar Member in Bhaluka by Colleague’s Gunfire

In a tragic incident on Monday evening, an Ansar member, Bajendra Biswas, aged 40, lost his life after being shot by a colleague at a garment factory in Bhaluka, Mymensingh. The incident occurred around 7:00 pm at the Sultana Sweaters Limited, a subsidiary of Labib Group, located in the Mehrabari area of the upazila.

Bajendra Biswas was the son of Pobitra Biswas and hailed from Kadirpur village in Sylhet Sadar Upazila. Following the incident, local police apprehended the alleged shooter, Noman Mia, aged 22, the son of Lutfur Rahman from Baluturi Bazar, Taherpur, Sunamganj.

According to police reports and eyewitness accounts, the factory employed 20 Ansar personnel to oversee security. At the time of the shooting, Bajendra and Noman were seated together inside the factory. Eyewitnesses stated that a firearm in Noman’s possession discharged accidentally, striking Bajendra in the left shoulder. He fell to the ground, bleeding heavily. Factory colleagues immediately rushed him to the Bhaluka Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

The Officer-in-Charge of Bhaluka Model Police Station, Md. Zahidul Islam, confirmed the incident, stating that the police arrived promptly at the scene and took Noman into custody. Bajendra’s body has been sent to the Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.

The OC further noted that investigators are examining whether the shooting was purely accidental or if any underlying motive contributed to the tragedy. A formal case regarding the incident is currently underway.
