EC Holds Another Meeting with Law Enforcement Agencies

Ahead of the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election, the Election Commission (EC) has held a meeting with law enforcement agencies to discuss preparatory measures and security arrangements.

On Thursday (27 November), shortly after 10:30 am, the meeting took place at the Election Commission Secretariat in Agargaon, Dhaka, chaired by Chief Election Commissioner A M M Nasir Uddin. Four election commissioners, the Home Secretary, the EC Secretary, and senior officials of the agencies attended the meeting.

Sources said the EC will provide directives to determine operational strategies after reviewing election security. The meeting may also finalise how long law enforcement will be deployed before and after voting, and the number of personnel to be assigned at polling centres.

The first preparatory meeting was held on 20 October. During that session, a proposal was made to deploy law enforcement for eight days before and after the election. It is estimated that 13 to 18 personnel may be assigned to each polling centre this time.
