Despite India securing a semi-final berth in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup, one of the team’s premier batsmen, Abhishek Sharma, has yet to find his best form. This dip in consistency has had a noticeable effect on his standing at the top of the T20I batsmen rankings.
Although Abhishek still retains the number one position, his hold has weakened slightly. In contrast, Pakistan’s opener Sahibzada Farhan, despite his team exiting at the Super Eight stage, has made significant strides in the latest ICC weekly rankings released today.
Farhan has achieved a remarkable feat in this T20 World Cup, scoring two centuries in a single edition — a first in the tournament’s history. He began his stellar run with a century against Namibia and followed it up with another dominant hundred against Sri Lanka at Pallekele. These performances have propelled him up the T20I batsmen rankings, moving him from third to second place.
Currently, Farhan has a career-best rating of 848 points, just 26 points behind Abhishek’s 874. In the World Cup, Farhan accumulated 383 runs, surpassing England’s Phil Salt, who holds 803 points in third place.
Other notable movements in the rankings after the Super Eight stage include:

| Abhishek Sharma | India | 1 | 1 | 874 | Top-ranked but form fluctuating |

In the bowlers’ rankings, India’s premier spinner Varun Chakravarthy continues to lead, though Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan trails closely with an 18-point difference. Chakravarthy has claimed 12 wickets in the World Cup so far. Pakistan’s spinner Abrar Ahmed has also climbed two places to third, intensifying the competition at the top.
Farhan’s surge has introduced an exciting new dynamic to the T20I rankings, adding pressure on Abhishek to maintain his top position. With the World Cup still underway, the battle for supremacy among batsmen and bowlers alike promises to remain intense.
