In Motlob South, Chandpur, police have recovered the hanging body of an 18-year-old girl, Seema Akter. On Thursday (27 November), the police recovered the body from the Gobindapur area of the upazila.
The deceased, Seema Akter, was the daughter of Safik Tapadar from Gobindapur village, Ward 4, Upadhi North Union of Motlob South. The family lived in Dhaka.
OC of Motlob South Police, Saleh Ahmed, confirmed the matter to the media.
Police and locals said that Seema Akter had returned home from Dhaka on 23 November. She had unlocked the door and entered the house. Later, her family saw the house locked again and assumed Seema had gone back to Dhaka. On Thursday (27 November), her mother came from Dhaka to search for her daughter. Opening the door of her own room, she found her daughter’s partially decomposed body hanging from the rafters by a rope around her neck.
Upon seeing the body, she shouted for help, and neighbours rushed to the scene. The locals informed the police, who then recovered Seema’s body from the house.
OC Saleh Ahmed said that upon receiving the report, the police recovered the body from the scene. It has been sent to Chandpur General Hospital for post-mortem examination. An unnatural death case has been filed at the police station.
