The initial round of talks between Hamas and mediators concerning the situation in Gaza concluded in Egypt “amid a positive atmosphere,” Egyptian state-linked media reported early on Tuesday.
The talks are set to continue on Tuesday, with an Israeli delegation having arrived in Sharm El-Sheikh on Monday.
The discussions are expected to cover:
| Agenda Item | Details |
| Hostage-prisoner exchange | Implementation of US President Donald Trump’s proposal |
| Ceasefire | Steps toward a long-term halt to hostilities in Gaza |
| Mediation | Conducted indirectly via shuttling mediators to maintain security and confidentiality |
The aim is to facilitate an agreement on the exchange of hostages and prisoners while establishing conditions for a sustainable ceasefire, according to reports.
The talks reflect growing international pressure on both Hamas and Israel to find a negotiated resolution after nearly two years of conflict in Gaza.
