Four Killed in Three Separate Road Accidents in Chattogram

Chattogram city and district witnessed three separate road accidents in a single day, claiming the lives of four individuals. The incidents occurred between the morning and early afternoon on Monday, 15 September.

 

On Monday morning, Nasima Begum (45) was fatally run over by a truck near the Public School Gate area under the Oxygen police station in the city.

Nasima Begum was travelling on a motorcycle with her husband when they collided with an auto-rickshaw. She fell onto the road and was immediately struck by an oncoming truck, resulting in her instant death.

Local residents apprehended the truck driver, Ripon, and handed him over to the police.

 

The Officer-in-Charge of Bayezid Bostami Police Station, Md. Kamruzzaman, confirmed that the victim’s body was sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue. Legal proceedings against the driver are currently underway.

 

Around 11:30 a.m., a collision occurred on the Chattogram–Cox’s Bazar Highway, at Dohazari Sonai Bottol, involving an Eagle Transport bus and two auto-rickshaws.

Eight others sustained injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.

 

Sub-Inspector Md. Mohiuddin of Dohazari Highway Police Station stated that both the bus and auto-rickshaws involved in the accident were seized by police for investigation.

 

In the afternoon, a passenger bus operated by Irin Transport lost control and plunged into a ditch in Kumira, Sitakunda Upazila. The bus collided with a nearby vulcanising shop, crushing its owner:

Despite rescue efforts by the Fire Service and police, Mohammad Ali was found dead at the scene. Ten other passengers were injured, but none suffered serious injuries.

 

Station Officer Md. Abdullah Al Mamun of Kumira Fire Service confirmed the casualty and reported that the injured were taken to hospital for treatment.

In total, four lives were lost and eighteen people injured in three separate incidents across Chattogram on the same day. Authorities continue to investigate the accidents and have initiated legal actions against the responsible parties.
