Workers of a pharmaceutical supplier, General Pharmaceuticals, staged a roadblock protest in Shyamoli, Dhaka, demanding their overdue salaries.
The protest began shortly after midday on Tuesday, 12 August, when the workers occupied the road, causing disruption to traffic. The information was confirmed by Md. Abdul Malek, Investigating Officer of Adabar Police Station.
According to Abdul Malek:
“The employees of General Pharmaceuticals blocked the road in Shyamoli after 12 noon, demanding their unpaid wages.”
He added:
“Our police officers and traffic personnel are currently negotiating with the protesters, urging them to clear the road. We hope they will vacate the area shortly.”
Meanwhile, the roadblock caused significant traffic congestion, leading to long queues of vehicles and considerable inconvenience for commuters and workers alike.
