In Mexico's Pacific coastal state of Sinaloa, 13 armed assailants were killed in a gunfight with security forces. The clash occurred on Monday (November 3) afternoon in a rural area of the state, according to the country’s Security Minister Omar García Harfuch.

The minister stated that prior to the attack, an armed group assaulted local authorities. Security forces responded with a counter-operation, rescuing nine kidnapped individuals and arresting four others.

Sinaloa has long been under the influence of the notorious Sinaloa Cartel. Government forces regularly conduct operations to free the region from cartel control, resulting in frequent deadly clashes.

Local sources report that internal conflicts among Sinaloa Cartel factions over dominance have further destabilized the area.

Meanwhile, neighboring United States is actively involved in anti-drug operations. Under the direction of President Donald Trump, the U.S. military is conducting anti-narcotics operations in the Caribbean Sea and eastern Pacific. So far, at least 15 alleged drug-carrying vessels have been destroyed, and 64 people killed.
