India’s President, Droupadi Murmu, has extended warm greetings to Bangladesh on the occasion of its Independence and National Day, underscoring the deep-rooted friendship and enduring partnership between the two neighbouring countries. In a formal message conveyed on Wednesday, 25 March, through the Indian High Commission in Dhaka, she conveyed her best wishes to the President of Bangladesh, Mohammed Shahabuddin, as well as to the friendly people of Bangladesh.
In her message, President Murmu expressed heartfelt greetings on behalf of the Government and people of India. She highlighted that the national day of Bangladesh is not only a moment of pride and reflection for its citizens but also a symbol of shared history and mutual respect between the two nations. The statement emphasised that India values its relationship with Bangladesh as one built on trust, cooperation, and long-standing cultural affinity.
The President noted that India and Bangladesh are bound together by a common historical legacy, enriched by deep cultural connections and a shared linguistic heritage. Over the decades, this relationship has evolved into a comprehensive cooperation framework spanning multiple sectors.
She further acknowledged that both countries have made significant strides in advancing people-centric development through enhanced collaboration in key sectors such as connectivity, trade, development partnership, power and energy, capacity building, and education. President Murmu also reaffirmed India’s commitment to strengthening its bilateral partnership with Bangladesh in the years ahead. She expressed confidence that both nations will continue to work closely together to promote regional peace, stability, and prosperity across South Asia.
In her concluding remarks, she reiterated her assurance of India’s highest consideration towards Bangladesh and conveyed sincere goodwill to its government and people. Her message reflects the enduring spirit of cooperation that continues to define India-Bangladesh relations, reinforcing the shared aspiration for a peaceful and prosperous future for both nations.
