Nabin Fashion has announced that all its branches, except the Moghbazar outlet, will remain operational, accompanied by special offers for customers ahead of Eid. The announcement was made via a Facebook post on Wednesday (25 March), confirming that the festive celebrations would continue at other locations.
In the post, the management stated:
“Although the Moghbazar branch was forcibly closed on the eve of Eid, this year’s festive celebrations will continue for 15 days—Insha’Allah. Under the initiative of MP Hasnat Abdullah and Bangladesh Shop Owners Association President Helal, the other branches, excluding Moghbazar, will remain open with attractive offers. The festivities will also be broadcast live from China by Nabin Fashion’s Managing Director—Insha’Allah.”
The decision comes amid heightened attention on the company following recent events. On Tuesday, Nabin Fashion’s owner, Enamul Hasan Nabin, left Bangladesh. In a Facebook post, he wrote:
“I wish to live boldly like a lion, but I do not wish to orphan my children due to syndicate attacks. Therefore, I am leaving the country. Insha’Allah, I may return when the situation stabilises.”
Earlier on Tuesday afternoon, Nabin held a press conference at the Moghbazar branch in Dhaka, announcing his departure. He stated that the company’s primary aim was to sell products to customers at fair prices. “If this goal is obstructed, we will cease operations and I will return abroad. I feel that business in Bangladesh has become untenable,” he added.
The controversy erupted after a video circulated on social media on 20 March, the day before Eid-ul-Fitr, showing neighbouring shop owners in Moghbazar forcibly closing a Nabin Fashion store. The closure reportedly followed objections to the company selling inexpensive panjabis, which some local traders claimed undermined the market and likened to “relief giving.”
| Branch Location | Status During Eid | Special Offers / Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Moghbazar, Dhaka | Closed | Forcibly shut by neighbouring traders |
| Other Dhaka branches | Open | Attractive discounts, live broadcast from China |
| Chittagong | Open | Standard Eid offers |
| Sylhet | Open | Standard Eid offers |
| Rajshahi | Open | Standard Eid offers |
Despite the challenges at Moghbazar, Nabin Fashion’s management is determined to continue Eid festivities across its other branches, ensuring that customers have access to discounted products throughout the 15-day celebration period.
