Iranian Missile Strike Kills Palestinian in Abu Dhabi

A Palestinian man has been killed in a missile strike reportedly launched by Iranian forces in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), authorities have confirmed. The incident took place in the Al Bahia district, where the missile struck a civilian vehicle, resulting in the immediate death of the occupant.

According to a report by Iran International on Monday, 16 February, emergency services were promptly dispatched following the attack. Abu Dhabi authorities stated that first responders quickly arrived at the scene to secure the area and provide assistance.

Drone Attack Temporarily Halts Oil Operations in Fujairah

In a related development, Fujairah port, a key UAE oil export hub, experienced a drone attack that led to a temporary suspension of petroleum loading operations. Reuters reported that the drone strike caused fires within the port’s petroleum facilities, prompting civil defence teams to intervene and contain the blaze. Authorities confirmed that there have been no casualties reported in Fujairah as of now.

Fujairah port is strategically located along the coast of the Gulf of Oman, just outside the Strait of Hormuz, and handles approximately 1 million barrels of Murban crude oil daily, making it a vital node in global energy supply chains.

Crackdown on Social Media Disinformation

Amid these security concerns, UAE authorities have arrested 35 individuals, including several Bangladeshi nationals, for spreading “misleading and false information” online. The detainees were apprehended from Abu Dhabi and other parts of the country following an order from UAE Attorney General Dr. Hamad Saif Al Shamsi on Sunday, 15 March.

Investigations revealed that the suspects circulated fabricated footage relating to an alleged Iran–US–Israel conflict. Those arrested also include citizens of India, Pakistan, and Nepal. Authorities have indicated that the individuals will face expedited trials under the UAE’s cybercrime and national security laws.

This series of incidents underscores rising tensions in the Gulf region, where both physical attacks and digital disinformation campaigns are increasingly affecting security, trade, and public perception.
