In Kurigram, a northern border district, the winter chill is intensifying. From early morning, icy winds and dense fog have disrupted daily life, causing hardships for residents.
Subal Chandra Sarkar, acting officer of the Rajarhat Meteorological Observatory, said that the minimum temperature in the district was recorded at 12.4°C at 6 am on Thursday, 4 December. He added that temperatures may fall further.
Local residents reported that due to dense fog, roads are barely visible, forcing vehicles to run with headlights on. Daily wage earners and low-income laborers are braving the cold to work, facing significant difficulties.
People from Jatrapur Union said it is nearly impossible to leave home due to the dense fog and severe cold, but they must work to earn their livelihood. Residents of the municipal town added that despite the cold, they need to go outside to pay rent and maintain their households.
The lack of administrative action has compounded the hardships for ordinary citizens. As temperatures drop further, the impact of the severe cold on daily life is increasing.
