In a chilling incident from Andhra Pradesh, India, a woman is alleged to have murdered her husband by lacing his biryani with powdered sleeping pills. The horrifying case took place in Chiluveru village, Guntur district, and has shocked local residents.

According to police reports, the husband, Lokam Shivanagaraju, consumed the spiked meal prepared by his wife, Lakshmi Madhuri, and fell into a deep, drug-induced sleep. Madhuri then allegedly called her lover, Gopi, to their home. Together, the pair reportedly suffocated Shivanagaraju with a pillow, resulting in his death.

Initially, Madhuri attempted to pass off her husband’s death as natural, claiming he had suffered a heart attack. She reportedly alerted neighbours in the early hours, announcing the sudden demise of her spouse. However, suspicions arose when Shivanagaraju’s father and friends noticed marks of injury and traces of blood on the body, prompting them to file a complaint with the local police.

Forensic examination later confirmed that Shivanagaraju had died from asphyxiation and chest trauma, effectively ruling out natural causes. Following this, police arrested both Madhuri and Gopi. During interrogation, Madhuri admitted to conspiring with her lover to carry out the murder.

Contrary to initial media reports suggesting Madhuri sat beside her husband’s body watching adult videos, Guntur District Police Superintendent Vakul Jindal clarified that Shivanagaraju himself had reportedly viewed such videos on his wife’s phone, which had been a source of frequent marital disputes. There is no evidence to support the claim that Madhuri watched any such content following the murder.

Police confirmed that Madhuri and Gopi had maintained an extramarital relationship prior to the incident. On the night of the murder, Madhuri allegedly mixed sleeping pills into the biryani she served to her husband. Once he was unconscious, Gopi was summoned, and the two carried out the fatal act. The case remains under investigation.
