In a dramatic La Liga encounter on Sunday night, Real Madrid secured a 1–0 victory over Getafe, reclaiming the top spot in the league standings under coach Javi Alonso. The match was marked by a flurry of disciplinary action, as Getafe saw two of their players sent off within just seven minutes, while Real Madrid’s sole goal came from Kylian Mbappé.

Real Madrid dominated from the outset, but failed to break the deadlock in the first half despite taking nine shots. The game changed dramatically in the second half when two Getafe players were shown red cards, one of which preceded the decisive goal.

  • 44 seconds into the match, Getafe midfielder Allen Niyam received a straight red card for elbowing Vinícius Júnior in midfield. Just three minutes later, Mbappé scored the opener after receiving a pass from substitute Gilaer, marking his 11th consecutive match scoring for club and country.
  • In the 84th minute, Getafe suffered another setback. Alex Sancris was shown a second yellow card for a foul on Vinícius, following an earlier yellow in the 74th minute, reducing Getafe to nine men.

With two players sent off, Getafe were unable to respond, leaving the field defeated. Real Madrid now lead the table with 24 points from nine matches, while Barcelona sit second with 22 points from the same number of games.
