MP Mujahid Injured in Serious Road Accident

Kurigram-2 constituency Member of Parliament and central leader of the National Citizens’ Party (NCP), Dr. Atikur Rahman Mujahid, sustained injuries in a road accident while returning home from Dhaka early on Tuesday morning. The accident also left his driver and personal assistant critically injured.

According to police reports, the incident occurred at approximately 6:30 am on 17 March at the Kaunia Bailey Bridge along the Rangpur–Kurigram highway. The hybrid vehicle carrying Dr. Mujahid reportedly collided head-on with a speeding truck approaching from the opposite direction.

Following the collision, Dr. Mujahid’s vehicle lost control and fell into a roadside ditch, sustaining severe damage. Despite the severity of the accident, Dr. Mujahid received initial medical attention and is now recuperating at his residence. However, his driver and personal assistant were seriously hurt and later transported to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for urgent treatment.

Kaunia police station officer-in-charge, Nazmul Haque, confirmed Dr. Mujahid’s involvement in the accident and stated that an investigation is underway to determine the precise cause of the collision.
