Niloy Ahmed Embarks on Playback Journey

Niloy Ahmed is steadily carving a distinctive presence in contemporary Bangladeshi music. Recently, he captured audiences’ attention with the song “Hay Mon” from the web series “Atka”. This opportunity arose through his long-standing collaboration with the series’ director, Arafat Mohsin Nidhi, who also composed and arranged the track.

Speaking about the collaboration, Niloy said, “When Nidhi was planning ‘Atka’, he offered me the chance to sing this song. We had worked together on several projects before, so I accepted without hesitation. Once the production house Charkhi approved it, the song was finalised.”

Playback Experience in Web Series

Niloy reflected on the nuances of performing for a web series. “Though working with audio or video songs and playback is technically similar, playback requires careful attention to the character and context of the scene. This shapes both the expression and the mood of the song,” he explained. He added, “Whether in film, drama, or a web series, artists retain freedom in melody and musical interpretation, but playback adds a layer of storytelling responsibility.”

Audience Response

“Hay Mon” has garnered positive reactions from listeners. Lyricist Tanmoy Parvez, composer-director Arafat Mohsin Nidhi, and fellow singer Raba Khan have all praised the track. Niloy commented, “Audience appreciation is the greatest reward for any artist.”

Reflecting on his journey, Niloy noted, “After ‘Hello Amit’ and ‘36-24-36’, playback for a web series provided an entirely new experience. I have dreamt of becoming a playback singer since childhood. Although I have sung for reality shows, albums, and TV commercials, this first formal playback opportunity felt like a true fulfilment of that dream.” He emphasised that despite entering playback professionally, he continues to perform across other platforms, prioritising audience satisfaction over personal convenience, even leaving a job to focus on singing.

Upcoming Project: Duet “O Jan”

Niloy has recently recorded a new duet titled “O Jan” with singer Konal. The key details of the project are as follows:
