Narayanganj, Fatulla: The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested nine members of a robbery gang involved in looting goods worth Tk 6.5 million from a DPDC power substation under construction in Fatulla. During the operation, authorities recovered a truck containing the stolen materials, as well as local firearms and tools used in the crime.
According to RAB, on Sunday night (21 September), a group of 15 to 20 armed robbers raided the under-construction substation in Pilkhuni area. They tied up and assaulted security guards and workers at gunpoint before stealing various items including electric wires, conductor cables, transformer cables, copper wires, and other equipment, with an estimated total value of Tk 6.5 million.
Following the incident, the substation authorities filed a case at Fatulla Model Police Station, prompting RAB to begin intelligence surveillance and operations. On Monday night, raids were conducted in Samad Nagar (Narayanganj) and Sarulia, Demra (Dhaka), resulting in the arrest of nine suspects.

Recovered items include the stolen truck, mobile phones, copper wires, drill machines, cutter motors, iron grills, stand fans, knives, chapatis, and toy pistols.
RAB-11 Commander, Lt. Colonel H.M. Sajjad Hossain, stated that the arrested Liton has nine cases, including robbery, firearms, and drugs, while Roman has four drug-related cases and Sagar Munsi has one case.
He added that operations to apprehend other suspects involved in the robbery are ongoing, and legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are underway.
