Pakistan has a proud history of producing world-class cricketers who have achieved global recognition. From Imran Khan to Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Akhtar, and Waqar Younis, the nation has consistently delivered players capable of dominating on the international stage. The current generation also has its stars, including Babar Azam. Yet, even now, new talents continue to emerge, one of whom is Maaz Sadakat, a promising young all-rounder tipped by former South African pacer Wayne Parnell as Pakistan’s next potential superstar.
Maaz Sadakat is 20 years old and is both a left-handed batsman and orthodox spin bowler. He made an impression while playing for Pakistan Shaheens in the Asia Cup Rising Stars Championship, where his all-round performance contributed significantly to Pakistan’s tournament victory. He is now playing for Janakpur Bolts in the Nepal Premier League (NPL), under the captaincy of Wayne Parnell.
In three matches so far for the Bolts, Maaz has scored 95 runs at an average of 31.66, maintaining a remarkable strike rate of 179.24. In his latest innings against Chitwan Rhinos, he struck a destructive 63 off 30 balls, displaying both aggression and finesse. His bowling has also been effective; he has taken three wickets at an economy rate of 6.50, demonstrating his all-round capabilities.
Wayne Parnell has publicly praised Maaz’s talent, sharing an Instagram selfie with him captioned: “Pakistan’s next superstar (Maaz Sadakat).” Such recognition from an experienced international player underscores Maaz’s potential.
In the Asia Cup Rising Stars Championship, Maaz was the tournament’s standout performer. Across five innings, he scored 258 runs at an average of 129, including two unbeaten half-centuries. He also took seven wickets at a stellar average of 7.42, with an exceptional economy rate of just 4.33. His performances helped Pakistan clinch the title and earned him the Player of the Tournament award.
Particularly noteworthy was his performance against India, Pakistan’s traditional rival. Maaz took two wickets for just 12 runs before scoring an unbeaten 79 off 47 balls, highlighting his ability to deliver under pressure and against strong opposition.
With performances like these, Maaz Sadakat is establishing himself as one of Pakistan’s brightest young prospects. While his journey is just beginning, his talent, consistency, and endorsements from cricketing veterans indicate that he could soon become a key figure for Pakistan on the international stage. Cricket fans worldwide will be watching closely as this young all-rounder continues to impress and develop his career.
