Planes Collide on Runway at New York’s LaGuardia Airport

Two planes operated by Endeavor Air, a subsidiary of Delta Airlines, collided on the runway at New York’s LaGuardia Airport on Wednesday evening, according to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and the airline.

The collision occurred at 9:58 pm local time (0158 GMT Thursday) as:

Delta described the incident as a low-speed collision during taxi, in which the wing of the departing aircraft made contact with the fuselage of the arriving aircraft.

  • Passenger and crew count: 93 in total
  • Injuries: One flight attendant sustained minor injuries and was treated in hospital; no life-threatening injuries were reported.

Images circulated by US media, which AFP could not immediately verify, showed:

Despite the collision, the Port Authority confirmed that LaGuardia’s operations were not disrupted.

Delta, the parent company of Endeavor Air, stated that it would:

  • “Work with all relevant authorities to review safety measures”
