A senior police officer was seriously injured on Monday morning in a collision involving a motorcycle and a truck carrying bricks in Bogura’s Shibganj Upazila. The injured officer has been identified as Masud Rana, 48, a Sub-Inspector (SI) serving at Kalaiqoir Police Station in Gazipur.
The accident occurred around 11:00 am in the Muradpur area of Mokamtala on the Bogura–Rangpur Highway. Masud Rana, originally from Haragachh Thana in Rangpur District, was returning to his duty station in Kalaiqoir after providing testimony in a case in Dinajpur.
According to police and local sources, SI Rana had stopped at the Mir and Rubel Filling Station in Muradpur to refuel his motorcycle. While manoeuvring the vehicle at the petrol station, a speeding truck carrying bricks approached from the opposite direction, resulting in a head-on collision. Rana was trapped under the truck and sustained serious injuries.
Sub-Inspector Ganen Das of Kundarhat Highway Police Station stated that police promptly secured the scene and seized the truck following the accident. With assistance from local residents, SI Rana was rescued and transported to Bogura TMSS Medical College Hospital for advanced medical treatment. Authorities have confirmed that further legal action is underway in relation to the incident.
