On Friday, 13 March, Rajasthan United Football Club (RUFC) will take to the field in Jaipur with the aim of securing their first win of the Indian Football League (IFL) 2025–26 season. This fixture marks the club’s inaugural “home” match at the Vidyadhar Nagar Stadium, offering both a chance for redemption and the added pressure of performing before their local supporters.
RUFC has had a challenging start to the season. Having played two matches so far, the team has managed only a single point. Their opening game saw a 1–1 draw against Shillong Lajong FC, providing a glimmer of hope. However, the subsequent match against Aizawl FC ended in a 1–3 defeat, leaving the club languishing at the bottom of the ten-team table.
Their upcoming opponents, Namdhari FC, have drawn both of their first two matches, collecting two points and currently sitting in sixth position. The RUFC vs Namdhari encounter is scheduled for 4:00 PM local time.
The table below summarises the performance of both teams in the current IFL season:

RUFC captain Malla Thakuri and head coach Vikrant Sharma have taken proactive steps to boost morale, conducting training sessions both in the Maldives and at international venues. Sharma commented,
“We have built a well-balanced squad. Playing at home will give us the perfect opportunity to revitalise our campaign and regain momentum.”
However, chairman K.K. Tak and managing director Roshni Tak highlighted logistical challenges, particularly the inadequate floodlighting at Vidyadhar Nagar Stadium. According to All India Football Federation (AIFF) guidelines, evening matches become difficult when temperatures exceed 30°C. Without urgent infrastructure upgrades, RUFC may be forced to relocate some home fixtures to cooler cities such as Chandigarh or Hyderabad.
RUFC officials recently met with Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhagjan Lal Sharma, inviting him to the upcoming match and seeking government support. The Chief Minister lauded RUFC’s initiatives in promoting football and youth development, encouraging further collaboration.
With both local government backing and a clear focus on development, RUFC is not merely a professional football club; it is fast emerging as a pivotal institution in nurturing Rajasthan’s football culture. The team now faces the challenge of translating this support into performance on the pitch, as fans eagerly anticipate their first home victory of the season.
This fixture represents more than points—it is an opportunity for RUFC to assert themselves as a competitive force in the league while inspiring the next generation of footballers across the state.
