Senior journalist Mostafa Firoz questioned whether repeatedly burning destroyed property can suppress the Awami League. He said, “The building of the Awami League at 23 Bangabandhu Avenue, which was repeatedly set on fire, has been burned again. In Jhenaidah, the statue of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was demolished with a bulldozer. What did that achieve? What was accomplished?” He made these remarks in a recent video on his YouTube channel.
Firoz said, “The Awami League is not physically present. Yet, the situation created by announcing a lockdown has caused fear among people. The Awami League alone carried out this action, where they have no physical presence, and still 40-45 people were arrested. This proves that fear of the Awami League still exists among people. What will happen in the coming days remains to be seen.”
He further stated, “Repeatedly burning or vandalizing the same property brings no benefit. Instead, people should be organized and made aware that there is no worse party than the Awami League. The goal should be to politically mobilize people and remove the party from within their ranks. Repeatedly destroying houses or statues will not lead to victory. The Awami League must be removed from the minds of the people.”
