Rituparna’s Rajshahi Far Ahead on Title Path

The match carried the unmistakable intensity of an “unofficial final” long before the first whistle. With the title race finely balanced, the equation was simple: victory would allow one side to clear a major hurdle and surge ahead in the championship pursuit. At the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Sepahi Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur, it was Rituparna Chakma’s Rajshahi Stars who rose to the occasion, edging past Farashganj Sporting Club by a narrow but decisive 1–0 margin and taking a commanding step towards the league title.

From the opening minutes, both teams approached the contest with caution mixed with urgency, aware that a single mistake could prove costly. Rajshahi Stars gradually asserted control in midfield, pressing high and forcing Farashganj into hurried clearances. The breakthrough finally arrived in the 39th minute. Alpi Akter, timing her movement perfectly inside the penalty area, met a probing attack with composure and placed the ball beyond the goalkeeper with a clinical finish. The stadium erupted, and that solitary strike ultimately proved enough to separate the two sides.

The victory has placed Rajshahi in a highly advantageous position in the league standings. In a ten-match league format, they have played seven matches and won all seven, collecting a flawless 21 points to sit at the top of the table. Bangladesh Army, having played one additional match, also have 21 points but trail Rajshahi on goal difference and overall momentum. Farashganj, meanwhile, remain on 18 points from seven matches and slip to third place. Despite their reputation as one of the league’s strongest outfits, the defeat has significantly dented their hopes of lifting the title, leaving them increasingly dependent on favourable results elsewhere.

Rajshahi Stars still have three fixtures remaining, against Siraj Smriti Sangsad, Sadyapushkarini, and Bangladesh Army. On paper, the encounter with the Army side represents the sternest test, while the other two matches are considered comparatively manageable. Farashganj’s remaining schedule includes matches against BKSP, Bangladesh Police, and Ansar and VDP, a demanding run that offers little margin for error.

Elsewhere in the league, the day was marked by a flurry of goals. Siraj Smriti Sangsad delivered a statement performance by thrashing last season’s champions, Nasrin Sports Academy, 5–0. Bangladesh Army were even more ruthless, dismantling Sadyapushkarini with a resounding 9–0 victory, underlining their attacking strength as the season enters its decisive phase.

Current Title Contenders (Summary)

Team Matches Played Wins Points Position
Rajshahi Stars 7 7 21 1st
Bangladesh Army 8 21 2nd
Farashganj SC 7 18 3rd

With three matches still to play, the title is not yet mathematically secured. However, Rajshahi Stars’ perfect record, defensive solidity, and ability to win high-pressure encounters suggest that the scent of silverware is already in the air. If they maintain their composure and consistency, Rituparna Chakma’s side may well seal the championship before the final round is reached.
