Long absent from Bangladesh’s national cricket team, Shakib Al Hasan continues to maintain his presence in franchise cricket. Currently, the all-rounder is representing the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons in the Caribbean Premier League. Adding another feather to his career, the former Bangladesh captain has now signed up to play in the United States Minor League Cricket, joining the Atlanta Fire for the upcoming season.
Shakib has been brought into the Atlanta Fire squad as an international wildcard player. The tournament is scheduled to run from 28 August to 2 October 2025.
Confirming the news on their official Facebook page, Atlanta Fire stated: “We are thrilled to announce that one of the world’s premier all-rounders, Shakib Al Hasan, will join the Atlanta Fire cricket team as an international wildcard for the 2025 Minor League season.”
The franchise also lauded Shakib’s skills and impact, adding: “A game-changer with both bat and ball, Shakib brings unparalleled experience, skill, and star power to the team. Get ready to witness his magic in Atlanta.”
The Minor League Cricket (MiLC) in the United States is a professional T20 competition, established in 2021. It functions primarily as a feeder league for the country’s major cricket tournament, the Major League Cricket (MLC), helping to develop talent and enhance the profile of cricket in the US.
Shakib’s inclusion is expected to boost the league’s visibility and attract significant attention from cricket fans both in the US and globally, further cementing his status as one of the sport’s most prominent all-rounders.
