In a surprising administrative move, Md. Amir Hossain Serniabat, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shibchar Police Station in Madaripur, has been withdrawn just four days after his appointment. On Saturday, 28 March, the police headquarters reassigned him to the district police line.

According to official sources, Amir Hossain Serniabat assumed charge as the acting OC of Shibchar Police Station on 24 March. However, within merely four days, the authorities decided to withdraw him from the position, prompting curiosity and speculation among local residents.

Confirming the development, Assistant Superintendent of Police (Shibchar Circle) Md. Salah Uddin Qader stated, “It was a routine administrative reassignment. The withdrawal of OC Amir Hossain Serniabat was conducted in accordance with standard police procedures and was not due to any individual performance issues.” He added that the decision had been made considering operational requirements and the broader administrative strategy of the district police.

Amir Hossain Serniabat has a longstanding career at Shibchar Police Station. Prior to his appointment as acting OC, he served for several years as a Sub-Inspector and later as an Inspector (Investigation), gaining extensive experience in investigative and administrative duties.

The brief tenure has sparked discussions among the local community, with many questioning the unusually short duration of the appointment. Police officials clarified that rapid reassignments are sometimes necessary to maintain administrative efficiency and to ensure smooth policing operations in the area.

The district police have also indicated that a new Officer-in-Charge will be appointed shortly, ensuring that ongoing investigations and routine police work continue without disruption. Local authorities emphasised that public service and law enforcement remain the top priorities, and the short-term reshuffling is part of an ongoing strategy to enhance operational effectiveness.

While unusual, such swift administrative changes are not unprecedented in the region, particularly when aligned with broader organisational requirements. Police officials reassured residents that the transition will not affect law and order in Shibchar, and they continue to work closely with the community to ensure safety and responsive policing.

In summary, the withdrawal of Shibchar’s acting OC just four days into his tenure has drawn attention, but police officials describe it as a routine administrative measure aimed at strengthening local law enforcement capabilities.
