South Korea on Tuesday pledged to “work closely” with Japan’s newly appointed prime minister, Sanae Takaichi, a noted China hawk and social conservative who has become the country’s first woman to hold the office.
“Our government will continue to work closely with Japan’s new cabinet to maintain the positive momentum in bilateral ties,” foreign ministry spokesman Lee Jae-woong told reporters.
