Tasnina Farin regretted after seeing ‘Shorthopor’

Dhallywood actress Tasnia Farin is currently spending a busy time in Kolkata. She visited the city at the invitation of Tollywood actress Koel Mallick to attend a special screening of the film Swarthapar. Once, she had the opportunity to star opposite Dev, but that chance slipped away. In a recent interview, Farin expressed regret after watching Swarthapar and questioned why such quality films are not made more often.

She said, “I came here last year for the Kolkata Film Festival. It feels really good to be back after a while. I’ve been meeting people, roaming around, and trying my favorite foods.”

About the city’s festive atmosphere, she said, “I saw fireworks and lights all around as I arrived from the airport. It was beautiful.”

Farin mentioned that she was supposed to come earlier but couldn’t due to visa issues, which also caused her to miss the opportunity to act in Dev’s film. “That issue is resolved now. I came to discuss work that’s been in talks for some time—and to relax a bit too,” she added.

When asked about her collaboration with Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury and Chanchal Chowdhury, Farin replied, “I’m not sure if it’s his next film, but I’ve long wanted to work with Tonyda. I don’t know yet if Chanchalda will be part of it.”

Talking about Bangladesh, she said, “Things are going well there. Film budgets have increased, though the number of theaters remains a concern. Overall, the industry is improving.”

When asked about politics, Farin said she is not politically minded and prefers not to comment on such matters.

Referring to her breakthrough series Ladies and Gentlemen directed by Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, she said about his political engagement, “Everyone has the freedom to make their own choices. I don’t understand politics, so I’ll never step into that arena.”

On missing out on Dev’s film, Farin said, “They waited quite a while for me. I tried hard to make it happen, but things just didn’t align. Recently, I met Dev at the Swarthapar premiere. He said, ‘Finally, you came!’ It was our first in-person meeting.”

Regarding her early marriage, she smiled and said, “That just makes me different! Marriage doesn’t conflict with acting. I decide what’s right for me—and since my marriage, I’ve worked even more. Thankfully, the world has moved past such taboos.”

She clarified that her earlier statement about giving up acting after marriage was misunderstood. “I only meant that my husband is a priority, not that I’d quit working,” she said.

About the rumors linking her with singer Tahsan Khan, Farin said, “That was completely false. People misunderstood when I posted pictures with my partner. I revealed my relationship to clear up the confusion.”

On cultural exchange between Bangladesh and India, Farin said, “Even though we are two separate nations, we’re not divided in spirit. I take pride in my country’s independence and freedom war—it’s in our blood. With mutual respect and goodwill, a healthy exchange between the two nations is always possible.”
