Three cocktail explosions occurred within half an hour in the Manikganj bus stand area and its surroundings, leaving two rickshaw pullers injured. The explosions took place last night, Sunday, in Manikganj town.
The injured are Sagar Hossain of Bandutia area under Manikganj Municipality and Nabin Hossain of Beutha area. They were treated at the district general hospital.
According to several local sources and police from the Sadar Police Station, the verdict in a crimes against humanity case against ousted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is scheduled to be delivered today, Monday. Around 10 pm the night before the verdict, miscreants detonated two cocktails consecutively in front of the ‘Adommo 71’ sculpture near the Manikganj bus stand. Police arrived promptly and began investigation. About half an hour later, another cocktail explosion took place in front of the municipal supermarket near the bus stand, injuring rickshaw pullers Sagar and Nabin. They were later taken to the district general hospital.
Aminul Islam, Inspector (Investigation) of Manikganj Sadar Police Station, said that three cocktail explosions occurred in and around the bus stand area. Police were immediately deployed after receiving information. Two people were injured and received primary treatment at the district general hospital. Security and patrols have been intensified in key locations of the town and surrounding areas. An investigation is underway to identify those involved in the incident.
