Rajbari-1 constituency BNP candidate Ali Newaz Mahmud Khayem has expressed optimism ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections, stating that voters are eager to cast their ballots under the party’s “Rice Sheaf” symbol. Speaking at a rally on Monday afternoon at Shaheed Khushi Railway Ground, he pledged transformative development projects for the region if his party assumes power.
“On 12 February, people are keen to vote for the Rice Sheaf,” Ali Newaz told the gathering. “If the BNP comes to power, Rajbari will see the construction of a second Padma Bridge and the Padma Barrage. This will fundamentally change the fortunes of the local population.”
The rally drew supporters from across the district, with processions converging from all 14 union councils of Sadar Upazila and various parts of Rajbari municipality. Enthusiastic party workers marched to the venue, demonstrating widespread mobilisation and grassroots engagement.
During his address, Ali Newaz also accused a rival party of attempting to undermine the electoral process. “One party is trying to spoil the election environment. Aware of their likely defeat, they have begun distributing money among voters,” he claimed.
He continued with a personal appeal: “I am one of you. In my life, I have never been involved in wrongdoing. One day, we will all leave this world, but I trust that the people of this district will remember my service. That has been my lifelong purpose—to work tirelessly for the welfare of the people.”
Following the speech, a large electoral procession, featuring supporters from multiple areas, circled several key streets of the town before returning to the Shaheed Khushi Railway Ground. The event showcased a significant turnout of party activists, reflecting robust local support.
Prominent attendees included former district BNP convener Naeem Ansari, former district BNP secretary Manjurul Alam Dulal, and district BNP joint convener Gazi Ahsan Habib, alongside a substantial contingent of party and affiliate organisation members.
