Girl Killed, Two Injured in Lakshmipur Road Accident

A tragic road accident occurred this afternoon in the Rakhalia Bazar area of Sadar Upazila, Lakshmipur, claiming the life of a 14-year-old female student and leaving two others injured.

  • Location:Lakshmipur–Raipur road, near Rakhalia Bazar
  • Transport Involved: Bus operated by Ananda Paribahan

According to Md. Nizam Uddin Bhuiyan, Officer-in-Charge of Raipur Police Station, the incident occurred when the three girls attempted to cross the road and were struck by the speeding bus. Maryam Akhter was declared dead on the spot, while two of her classmates sustained injuries.

 

Response and Action

  • Rescue: The injured girls were promptly transported to Raipur Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
  • Legal Action: Enraged locals apprehended the bus driver at the scene and handed him over to the Raipur police.

The local authorities are continuing their investigation into the accident.
